A Product Destruction Service Worth Talking About

On-site product destruction

Pretend you were asked to perform a product destruction service for a food manufacturer, specifically the destruction of their automated food manufacturing assembly line.

Big deal, right? Let’s just break the stuff down on site and get it out of there. That’s not exactly accurate. Let’s talk about this product destruction service in terms of size and scope.

The total weight of the production line was 63 tons or 138,600 pounds. The production line was about 300 yards long and stood at 4 to 7 feet in height. While some of the equipment was already outside in the warehouse yard, most of the steel manufacturing equipment were still bolted to the warehouse floor. Our customer wanted all the equipment destroyed on site, so they could witness the certified product destruction. They also wanted the job completed in 5 days with a 100% landfill diversion rate for their sustainability program.

I didn’t write this blog post to toot our own horns here at E-Cycle Environmental. It’s to let organizations know the type of services that exist out there. When it comes to product destruction, it’s not just limited to destroying a recalled retail products with a malfunction.

Our client’s proprietary food manufacturing assembly line could not just be recycled. It also could not just be done by a junk removal service (even though we do that too). It had to go through a certified product destruction process before leaving their property. They didn’t want any of their equipment to end up sold to competitors, especially with the production secrets they had built into their equipment.

The great thing about E-Cycle Environmental is that we are used to this! No certified product destruction project is identical to another. Typically we build our customer’s solutions from the ground up. That is exactly what we did here. We assembled a team outfitted with industrial saws, forklifts, pallet jacks, roll off bins, bob tail trucks and stakebeds. Within 5 days we were able to complete the job and divert everything from the landfill. It was a great success and our customer was very happy with the work performed on their site.
